Here’s how to deep link at Commission Junction:
The merchant needs to have one or more links enabled for deep linking. For CandyDirect.com the link to use for deep linking is link #10876137.
When you click on that link in your CJ Get Links area, you’ll see a screen pop-up that looks like the image above. We have marked out the identifying words and numbers on this example and replaced them with labels.
1. Look for the line Destination URL about 1/4 up from the bottom. That option is how you know this is a link enabled for deep linking. The URL of the product page you want will go here. Getting this line correct is the most important part.
2. Everything else on this screen is the same as a regular link. The merchant name and site, your PID and your website, all are the same as usual. Choose the options for encrypting, new window, hide tracking just like always, and then click on “Update Link Code”.
3. The link code returned will be a text link with the Merchant name or description in the Visible Text part of the link. You can change those words to whatever text you want for your link; remember that specific product names or good keyword descriptions make better links than just “Click here”.
4. If you want to make this link an image link instead of a text link, you insert the image source where the text part is in the screen shot above. In this case the code for the img src would go between target equals “top”> and the /a that ends the link.
